Today on Strange Science News we’re featuring another weird scientific myth debunked by the good folks at Snopes.com.
Drinking bleach will protect you from HIV and AIDS?
(Can’t believe I have to say this) NO!
The myth gained popularity when an Associated Press article about a sex-education bill in Florida mentioned that some Florida teens believed that swallowing a capful of bleach will prevent you from catching HIV/Aids.
It’s not true. Bleach will not allow you to have indiscriminate sex and there is no evidence that a bunch of kids if Florida are chugging Clorox. They would’ve ended up in the hospital or worse if they were.
